2 for 1: Own a piece of Demon and Viper history

Charity gets a mega-horsepower push this June as Dodge//SRT joins with Barrett-Jackson for a once-in-a-lifetime offer for any automotive enthusiast: "The Ultimate Last Chance" - the last unit of the limited-production, world record-setting 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and the last 2017 Dodge Viper, the American hand-built supercar, auctioned as a pair. Details on the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon/Dodge Viper Barrett-Jackson auction lot can be found at DodgeGarage.com.

The vehicles cross the block during the Barrett-Jackson Northeast auction June 20-23 at the Mohegan Sun Resort in Uncasville, Connecticut. One hundred percent of proceeds from the sale go to the United Way.

“By giving both dollars and time, our employees provide a lot of ‘muscle’ to support United Way,” said Brian Harlow, Head of Manufacturing and United Way Chair for FCA US LLC. “To really kick this year’s United Way campaign into high gear, we are excited to offer up even more might with 'The Ultimate Last Chance' auction. Offering the last two of these iconic vehicles in a one-of-a-kind auction package will not only fulfill any car collector’s dreams, but also provide much needed support for those less fortunate.”

A one-of-a-kind 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, VIN0001, raised $1.65 million for charity in 2014 — at the time more than any other car in Barrett-Jackson history. [04/20/18]

Beckman takes Funny Car points lead after runner-up finish in Vegas

Tommy Johnson Jr. in the Make-A-Wish car anticipated the green light and started too soon in the final quad. The final finishing order was J.R. Todd (DHL car), Beckman, and Courtney Force (Advance Auto Parts).

The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was expanded to four lanes over the winter and held its inaugural Four-Wide NHRA National event on April 6-8. Both Saturday qualifying and Sunday eliminations were sold out as spectators flocked to see four simultaneous lanes of competition for the first time west of the Mississippi River.

Jack Beckman started race day from the No. 13 seed, unfamiliar territory for the driver who hasn’t qualified outside of the Top Three for the past six events, dating back to Dallas 2017. The Gainesville Funny Car winner was hoping to have back-to-back wins, but at Las Vegas he was the runner up.

In the first quad of eliminations, Beckman faced his teammate Ron Capps, reigning world champion Robert Hight, and Gary Densham. Beckman wheeled his Dodge Funny Car straight down the groove to take the round win and advance to the second session. In round two, Beckman had the starting line advantage and powered the Infinite Hero Foundation machine to another smooth pass, never trailing for the win.

Tommy Johnson Jr. was set up to repeat his victory at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway from last spring. He entered race day qualified second with his time of 3.932 at 318.84-mph.

During the first session of competition, Johnson drove Terry and Doug Chandler's Make-A-Wish Dodge to a 4.030-second at 316.01-mph run to advance to the second round. Johnson then ran the best lap of the session in round two with his stout 4.007-second pass to advance to the final quad along with his DSR teammate, Beckman.

Beckman was able to move up in the points, now leading second-place Courtney Force by 36 points.  [04/20/18]

Mopar Sportsman racer and previous Dodge Top Finisher winner, Mike Cotten of Cave Creek, Ariz., piloted his 1970 big-block Mopar powered Plymouth ‘Cuda to four-rounds of intense eliminations. Trailer exhibits move indoors for 2018 PRI Show

You can stay warm and dry while comparing trailers at this year’s PRI Show.

Indianapolis in December can sometimes be cold and snowy, and some attendees have been reluctant to spend much time outdoors to check out the trailer exhibit at the PRI Show.

Trailer exhibitors at the 2018 Performance Racing Industry Trade Show will now be able to show off their product lineups alongside their booths in the new indoor exhibit area at Lucas Oil Stadium. The new area provides exhibitors a larger space to showcase their products and is contiguous to the Indiana Convention Center.

"Trailers are essential in the racing industry, and moving the segment at the PRI Show indoors to the Lucas Oil Exhibit Area is part of our goal to provide the best possible venue to conduct business," said PRI Trade Show Director Karin Davidson. "The new indoor trailer exhibit area will be located at the end of the Lucas Oil Stadium corridor, on the lower level, and will give companies more space than ever before to display their products."

The 2018 PRI Trade Show scheduled for Dec. 6-8, will feature over 1,100 companies exhibiting in more than 3,300 booths, showcasing the latest developments in auto racing technology. Tens of thousands of buyers from all 50 states and 70 countries will be on hand in Indianapolis for the three biggest business days in racing.    [04/20/18]
