Well, another long SEMA week has come and gone. The week is always tiring and exhilarating at the same time. We love seeing new products, new companies and friends old and new. We always get to the now traditional Mopar press conference on Tuesday at 4:26 PM early, and linger at after show dinners until late; all part of the wonderful blur of SEMA. We walk a lot. This year we had one of those exercise apps on our phone that we calibrated before we left (to increase accuracy). According to the app, we walked 26 miles in three days. Our feet still hurt. While we put our feet up on our desk, here’s some highlights we culled from the show for you.

The new Viper ACR is one hell of a race car. Oops, wait, no it’s not, it’s a production street car. Well, the truth is it is one hell of a barely sheathed in street legality race car. Yet it is a real production car that anyone with the means can purchase and drive home from the showroom to either their garage or straight to a race track. The ACR’s mission has always been to dominate on the track primarily for the weekend racer. For 2016 FCA (Fiat Chrysler Auto) kicked the ACR program into overdrive with what is demonstrably the fastest production car ever made. But don’t just take our word for it.
“The SCCA has certified that the new 2016 Dodge Viper ACR holds more track records than any other production car in the world,” said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Car Brands - Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA - North America. “We expected our new Viper ACR to be the fastest street legal, Viper track car ever. Now we know without a doubt that it is.”
The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) has certified lap records at 13 road courses, including world-famous Laguna Seca, Road Atlanta and Virginia International Raceway. The impressive run has all been accomplished in the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR with the Extreme Aero package, which delivers 1,700+ pounds of peak downforce at top speed through a massive adjustable dual-element carbon fiber rear wing, rear carbon fiber diffuser, unique SRT hood with removable louvers, detachable extension for the front splitter and additional dive planes.Street legal racecar indeed.
