Mopars at the Strip – 2013: An elated Judy Radford shows her Quick 16 event trophy to all her friends after her spectacular four-round victory in the MATS prestigious Quick 16 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Looking on is Judy’s NHRA Pro Comp racing husband Dennis and two family friends from Oregon
Judy and Dennis Radford hail from an area not thought of as a harbinger of drag racing, Baker City, Oregon, on the western side of the state. The popular couple own and operate a trucking company that has made it possible for them to go drag racing. In fact, Dennis became a star in the NHRA Pro Mod classification and traveled the circuit for some time.
The normal travel grind and constant rule changes finally ‘got to him’ a bit and he decided to quit traveling so much and just help race Judy’s Durango truck they had built sort of as a family hobby.
My DragRacingOnline.com colleague, Brian Losness, the magazine’s Nostalgia Editor, caught the above awesome photo of Judy and her speedy truck at nearby Firebird Raceway just outside Boise, Idaho. Radford’s consider the New family’s facility their ‘home’ track.
