SEMA is many things to many people, but this year it was one thing to everyone—the biggest SEMA ever. Just on the opening Tuesday alone 70,000 attendees packed the halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center to see the more than 2,500 exhibitors. We attend the show wearing two hats, one for this magazine and one for our race team. We walk many miles every day for meetings in one hall or another, press conferences and product introductions. Senior Editor, Alex Rogeo does personal appearances for her race marketing partners, this year she was in the Hedman Performance Group booth. Our guess is that we walk four to five miles just within the halls every day. And even at that, we can only cover a tiny fraction of all that is on display. So here are some of the highlights for us this year.
Right at the start, at the SEMA New Products Breakfast before the show opened on Tuesday morning, Mopar lovers had something to cheer about. Every year SEMA officials walk the floors Monday night into the wee hours of Tuesday morning counting and listing all of the wicked cool customized vehicles on display. Then at the breakfast four “SEMA Hottest” awards are given to the vehicles that are predominant in their class out on the show floors. For 2014 SEMA’s “Hottest 4x4-SUV” was Jeep.
