Oh yeah, now we’re
talking inspired jet themed design.
No mistaking the jet aircraft design theme from
the rear of the Turbine car. To our eye, the notched
‘jet exhausts’ recall the notched wing root air intakes of the F-105 “Thud” fighter bomber.
The heart of the machine, the Chrysler CR2A third generation automotive turbine engine used in the legendary Chrysler Turbine cars. This revolutionary engine utilized 90% efficient heat regeneration and variable turbine nozzles to produce a workable
turbine engine for the 50 cars built and loaned
to 203 chosen consumers for a two marketing
test beginning in October of 1963.
