#10 Lynch Earns NHRA Championship in Mopar Challenger Drag Pak

Keith Lynch of Greenville, Ohio, claimed the 2011 NHRA (A/SA) National Performers Stock Automatic championship behind the wheel of David Wertman’s 2010 Mopar Challenger Drag Pak. Lynch set a national elapsed time (ET) and speed record with a pass of 10.05 seconds at 130.55 mph, en route to earning a class win in his final start of the season in Las Vegas.

Lynch was the No. 1 Qualifier at Charlotte in the spring during the Four-Wide Nationals and also took the top spot at Norwalk in his home state of Ohio. The three-time NHRA champion was among the top-eight in qualifying in all 14 of his starts in 2011. At the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, Ind., Lynch was among the top-five with a field of 140 cars in attendance.

#9 Allen Johnson Wins All-Mopar Final at Englishtown

Allen Johnson defeated Vincent Nobile in an all-Mopar final round to earn his ninth career win in 22 final-round appearances during the 42nd Annual NHRA Supernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ, on June 5.

Johnson won at the starting line, as Nobile, who also competes with Mopar HEMI® engines supplied by Roy Johnson, Allen’s father, fouled out on a red-light start by a mere 0.006-seconds. Allen Johnson, owner and driver of the J&J Racing Mopar Dodge Avenger, turned in a pass of 6.689-seconds at 210.64 mph with a reaction time of 0.013 in the final round. The matchup marked the first all-Mopar Dodge final in Pro Stock since the Fall 2009 Las Vegas event (Larry Morgan vs. Rickie Jones).

#8 Mopar Challenger V-10 Drag Pak Makes Competition Debut at NHRA Gatornationals

The Mopar Challenger V-10 Drag Pak saw its quarter-mile debut in March at the NHRA Gatornationals, as Frank Teuton Jr. of Houma, La., powered his V-10 Drag Pak to the third round of eliminations in Stock class competition at the event.

Teuton qualified with a 9.789-second elapsed time at .811 under index, placing in the middle of the pack in Stock qualifying. Teuton exited in the third round but still posted a 9.796 pass at 140.80 mph.

#7 Thomas Sets NHRA AA/SA Records in Mopar Challenger V-10 Drag Pak

Less than one month after making its competition debut, the 2011 Mopar Challenger V-10 Drag Pak rewrote the NHRA record books.

Dave Thomas, of Westchester, Pa., powered his 2011 Mopar Challenger V-10 Drag Pak to a record-setting 9.43-second elapsed time (ET) at 143.90 mph during a test session on April 7 at the NHRA Division 1 National Open event at Atco (N.J.) Raceway (the test session allowed for record attempts). Thomas captured both the ET and mph records in the AA/SA class just two weeks after taking ownership of his Mopar Drag Pak, and with only a few passes under his belt in the V-10-powered machine.
