We were headed south, driving back home to our Los Angeles shop with an original, complete, running 1931 Model A 5-window coupe inside the rented cube van filled with old car parts.

We’d found the car and a whole pile of parts with the help of Craig’s List in a town just outside of Portland, Oregon, so picking even a very direct route took us through some of the most beautiful and scenic parts of Oregon and northern California on the way home.  Sitting in the shotgun position gave me plenty of time to look out the cab window and take some photos of the trip.

After stopping for a burger at a local truck stop in Willows, we entered Colusa County in California and soon after crossing the county line we spotted one of those places, the kind of location you’ve got to stop and explore.  From seventy miles per hour on Interstate 5, off to the right I saw acres and acres of old cars, it looked like mostly Mopars in there so we took the next off ramp and made a U-turn onto Old Highway 99 near Williams, Calif.
