Nostalgia is Now

The real deal Ramcharger’s Cuda. Smokin’ in the cockpit.

Nostalgia racing is enjoying a resurgence in the drag racing business. Almost every major track stages at least one and sometimes two big Nostalgia races each year. On the West Coast the Hot Rod Heritage series of races is enjoying success, and group of promoters and track owners in the Midwest have banded together to support a six-race series of Nostalgia racing featuring an AA/FC points championship.

There were around 30 AA/FC at last year’s historic March Meet at Auto Club Famoso Dragway in Bakersfield, Calif. By some counts there may be as many as 40 Nostalgia floppers again at this year’s March Meet.

A good many of the Nostalgia cars are Mopar-bodied and Mopar-powered. So we thought it might be interesting to look at some of the original cars from the late 1960s and ‘70s and compare them to a few of the new nostalgia floppers.
