Leading up to the 2013 Barret-Jackson auction in Las Vegas on September 26-28, the Barrett-Jackson Road Rally motored from Convention Center Drive and Las Vegas Boulevard to the Mandalay Bay Hotel on September 25th. The rally is limited to 75 cars on a first come first in basis.

Doug Schneider, owner of our September 2013 issue’s feature car was there on behalf of the Las Vegas Mopar Club. The Las Vegas Viper Club also was there in force. The convoy of cool cars is escorted by Vegas’s finest motor police who block cross traffic for the column of cars and otherwise escort them on the route. Ironic when you consider that many of these great muscle cars and the police were likely adversaries once upon time

This year, the column was led by the restored, original Snake and Mongoose transporters with their respective cars. Don “The Snake” Prudhomme was there himself and it was ultra cool to have these ultimate time machine funny cars present.
The Snake and Mongoose were Grand Marshalls of the rally. These time capsules of the great sport of drag racing are always fun to see.
