The series opening event for the 2010 Mopar HEMI Challenge debuted at Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green, KY. Father's day weekend in Bowling Green means one thing; that it’s time for the Annual NHRA Hot Rod Reunion participants to invade Western Kentucky. To say the action was hot would be an understatement, with temperatures in the mid 90s and a heat index averaging 100 degrees.
The participants in the Mopar HEMI Challenge found the going tough as only one of the cars was able to make a full pass in the second round of qualifing. Charlie Westcott Jr led the nine car field with a good 8.51 shot in the first qualifying session, and continued to take the victory at the first Mopar HEMI Challenge event of the year.
|Russ Cambell failed to make the call for the first round.||Don Bales’ ‘Silver Bullit’ qualified seventh, running a 9.05 in his Connersville, IN based car.|
|Jim Pancake ran a best of 8.72 to qualify sixth.|
