The road trip to Bandimere Speedway sounded great in theory. Drive a 1970 Duster from Los Angeles to the Mopar Mile High Nationals in Denver. Not just any Duster, but a 1970 packing a modern 5.7 Hemi under the hood with a 46RH overdrive trans and 3:91 Sure Grip behind it. Mopar had built the car as a rolling testbed for the modern Hemi engine in old Detroit iron. The car had already gone to Vegas and back for Mopars at the Strip. A trip to Denver would further test a car that was built to be driven, and drive it we would. What's another day of driving, we thought?
