When it debuted, the Dodge Viper was gloriously unrefined. Void of anything that added weight, the Targa-style roadster touted little-to-zero insulation, no side or rear glass, air conditioning, or other interior creature comforts. It was the factory-built racecar that other manufacturers wouldn’t dare to build. Unfortunately, the rough-around-the-edges Viper also earned a bit of a nasty reputation for being uncomfortable, noisy, and exhaustively hot. One of the Viper’s most attractive features, the leg pipes made entering or exiting the low-slung vehicle without burning one’s legs a near impossible chore.
Thankfully, today’s Viper – now under Chrysler, LLC’s SRT division – is significantly more refined, so much so that it’s being hailed as a quality supercar on par with the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche. Equipped with a cavalcade of bells and whistles, from electronic throttle control to magnetic dampening suspension, the new SRT Viper is as comfortable to drive as it is fun. Adding to the Viper’s appeal is the driver and passenger’s ability to enter the cabin without the fear of singed skin.
NitroPlate provides the American supercar with its high performance ceramic coating on all side-exit exhaust ports, helping to not only protect against burning pants legs, but also protects the paint while adding to the refinement. Additionally, NitroPlate's coatings are impact, scratch and corrosion resistant to even the harshest environments found in marine applications or coastal regions, ensuring that the exhaust ports will remain brilliant.

WIX Filters, a member of the Affinia Group family of brands, has released a new Racing Filter Catalog featuring oil, air and fuel filters as well as mounting bases engineered for top-motorsport performance. WIX’s line of racing filters covers NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide, Camping World Truck and ARCA, as well as dirt track, off-road and drag racing.
“WIX engineers continuously work with the top racing teams in the development and design of the WIX racing filter line,” said Mike Harvey, brand manager for WIX Filters, the No. 1 filter in motorsports. “Our expert-engineered motorsports filters have been tested and proven in competition since the 1960s to ensure we provide the highest-quality products for teams and drivers. This catalog is a single source to find the best filter for any racing need.”
The catalog, last released in 2008, offers two different and distinct racing filter lines based on desired engine performance and protection. For maximum flow and horsepower, the lowest restriction pure racing media filters are recommended. However, when endurance and better engine protection are needed, WIX’s high efficiency endurance media filters are the correct choice.
The WIX Racing Filter Catalog covers the full line of WIX racing oil, air and fuel filters, along with the WIX line of cast aluminum racing mounting bases designed for converting engine mounted spin-on oil filters to a remote mounted position. The catalog also includes detailed filter specifications, a stock OEM filter location and application list for Chrysler, Ford and General Motors/Chevrolet engines, plus a filter cross reference list.
