IT’S A HIT!

My name is Josh McClurkan and I am the owner of the black 1970 Duster on the front of this story, and the picture above the results. You have made my day putting my car on the publication, and I have told at least 100 people to take a look at it so if your hit count is high, I hope I helped that in some way.

Thanks again, and St. Louis was a blast.

SALT OF THE EARTH

Great story, well written. Excellent pictures. Good for them. Lots of talent there, including my nephew Tony Smith. Very smart young men. Can't wait to go next year and watch them smoke everyone! Nice job.

KEVIN THOMPSON: EXTREME ADVICE COLUMNIST

Great advice Kevin. I over did it my first time on the salt in ‘01. I find Speed Week too hot and go to the smaller, cooler World Finals. It's 1,200 miles out for me.

THAT BONNEVILLE FEEL…

Hey Kevin, I just found the article on Pedro’s roadster. Nice job! The pictures were beautiful and the text really captured the Bonneville feel.

Two very minor points about the motor: it didn’t come from the factory with pressurized oiling (although we thought it did before actually getting to open one up) and it is under square (4.5” stroke x 3.875” bore).

Thanks again,

SIXTY YEARS OF SALT

The Salty 'cuda was at Speed Week with a new blown 426 Hemi on ERC 118 octane racing gas under a new fiberglass hood and scoop (the paint was still wet!) We had a great time running against our own record of 210 mph, we went 206 on the second full pass on the long course. Our competition made 7 passes and did a best of 204, a Camaro with a blown BBC; Mopar beats Chevy at the Salt! This was the 60th anniversary for the SCTA running land speed trials at the Bonneville Salt Flats and we wanted our 'cuda to be there with a new Hemi under the hood. We had a great time, Salty got a lot of looks and compliments from the fans and fellow racers.

There's a lot of potential left, and we are shooting for 220 mph next year! I'll email a couple of photos.

FREE PHOTOS? YOU KNOW IT!

We set a couple of Land Speed records at Bonneville this year with our Dodge truck and I got into the 200 mph club. Would you like a few photos of it for MoparMAX?
