The MoparMax Mystery Engine contest is over and – we do not have a winner. Maybe that’s because the engine isn’t (strictly speaking) a Mopar. Rather, what we showed you was an American Motors aluminum V8 engine block and heads that was produced by Alcoa Aluminum in 1957, although the wild all aluminum 327 never entered mainstream production. We’ll have a full review of this amazing never-was mystery engine in the February 2012 edition of MoparMax. Cheating? Well, maybe. But although the bulk of our interest here at MoparMax revolves around classic and late model Dodge, Plymouth, DeSoto, and Chrysler muscle machinery, let’s not forget AMC’s brief residence in the Mopar family tree.
